4 Questions To Ask Before Hiring A Pet Transport Company
As a loving and responsible pet owner, you will always want to do what’s best for your companion animal. That means not just taking care of their basic needs, like food and shelter, but always trying to find ways to keep them healthy, happy and safe.
With all of this in mind, it stands to reason that you wouldn’t (and shouldn’t) entrust care of your animal to just anybody. You need to make sure that before leaving your pet with a transport company that they are in competent hands.
Before you allow a company to care for your pet for what may be a matter of days, and over several international borders, you should be especially sure that you get proper peace of mind. There are a few things you might like to ask before taking on any company to care for your pet – even us!
How will you transport my pet?
A pet transport firm should have its own professional vehicle – you probably wouldn’t want an injured St. Bernard to be driven around in the back of someone’s hatchback.
For transportation by road, a clean van outfitted with everything your pet will need to be comfortable is a must. You might also be wary of firms who will choose to bundle your pet on a plane when a ferry or Eurostar is available – the latter two are usually the more comfortable options.
What if my plans change?
You will provide the pet transportation service with an itinerary, but plans can always change. If you need your pet to arrive six hours earlier than planned, or if you change your mind as to which vet you will visit, it’s important that your company will do what they can to meet your needs.
Will you take care of my pet’s medical needs?
Many pets require regular medication throughout the day, whether in the form of a pill or an injection. Anyone entrusted with your pet must not only be willing to, for example, give an injection, but must also know how to do so safely.
Can you give examples of satisfied customers?
A company which has been around for a time will doubtless have had dealings with a number of customers. Obviously, the best companies will be able to give you testimonials and tell you about satisfied customers they’ve served.
We’re confident we can give you and your pet the best service every step of the way, but that doesn’t mean just anyone else will. Do your research and ask the right questions, and you can be sure your pet will be in safe hands.
